Welcome to the STAR Center Appointments & Reservations page. We offer student study rooms as well as in-person and online appointments for students for research help, writing help, subject tutoring, and academic coaching.

Appointments & Reservations

Research Help Appointments

LSC-Montgomery librarians are here to help you maximize the available resources throughout the research process. In addition to answering general reference questions, librarians are also available to help you:

Review your assignment to identify and clarify key requirements
Make a research plan that aligns to the assignment and utilizes available LSC resources
Find resources to ensure you have relevant and creditable sources
Review citations to confirm that the correct style and formatting are applied

In-Person Appointments

Submit a request for an appointment to meet with a librarian in-person.

Online Appointments

Submit a request for an appointment to meet with a librarian online.

Walk-in assistance is available in-person as well. Individuals are assisted on a first come, first served basis and no appointment is needed. Stop by the Reference Desk (left side of Service Desk) in the STAR Center | Library (Building F, 1st floor) during our research help service hours.

Writing Help Appointments

The Write Place offers free writing consultations in writing, ESOL support, reading, and public speaking to improve students writing, communication, and reading comprehension skills across the curriculum. Our tutors will:

Meet with you at any stage of the writing process
Consult with you about structure, word choice, content, and sentence fluency in your writing
Provide tips and techniques for brainstorming ideas, finding a thesis, organizing content, adding support, citing correctly, and more

Subject Tutoring Appointments

The STAR Center provides individualized and group-based, course-content-focused learning assistance for a broad selection of courses. Our subject availability varies by semester; view our service hours to view current availability. Our tutoring spaces also offer many study resources, including textbooks, models, bones, digital microscopes, slides, and rock samples as well as free access to computers.

Academic Coaching Appointments

Academic coaching is a interactive one-on-one session with an academic coach that provides support and assistance in improving academic skills and performance. A coach can work with you in order to become more effective and successful in your academic goals. Topics include:

Time Management	Study Planning	Test Taking
Study Skills	Note Taking	Online Learning

STAR Center | Library Student Study Rooms

We offer group study rooms for currently enrolled LSC students to work with classmates on projects and presentations. Each study room is equipped with a table, chairs, whiteboard, and a TV. Rooms do not include a computer.* All study rooms are located within the STAR Center | Library space (Building F, 1st floor) and may be booked for 1 - 2 hours. See our guidelines page for additional information.

*Whiteboard kits (markers, spray, etc.) are available at the Service Desk upon request.

How to Book a Study Room

Note: You will need your student ID number and LSC student email address to book a study room.

Step 1	Click book a study room, and select date with "Go To Date" button or arrows.
Step 2	Click an available time slot; click "Submit Times."
Step 3	Fill out booking form; click "Submit my Booking."

Be sure to check in with the Service Desk when you arrive.

The STAR Center | Library also has individual study carrels/desks, comfortable reading chairs, a designated quiet study area, and plenty of tables & chairs for groups. All spaces are available during our service hours.
